The World Food Movement is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering community college students and food-insecure individuals across the United States by delivering fresh, wholesome meals that foster well-being, dignity, and opportunity.

Nearly 1 in 4 college students in the U.S. struggles with food insecurity. Yet solutions exist and they work. Inspired by The Akshaya Patra Foundation, the world's largest NGO-run school lunch program serving nearly 5 billion meals globally, the World Food Movement is bringing this proven model to America.

Single Mother, Medgar Evers College Student

"Before World Food Movement, I was juggling two part-time jobs just to afford basic groceries while taking a full course load. Some days, I'd have only tea for breakfast and skip lunch to stretch my food budget. Now, knowing a hot, nutritious meal awaits me on campus means everything. I can finally attend all my classes, study without hunger distractions, and focus on my degree. This isn't just about food, it's about dignity and believing in a better future. World Food Movement didn't just feed my body; they restored my faith that someone cares."

And I've seen classmates having to struggle between figuring out, am I going to eat lunch or am I going to leave it for dinner or is me and my friend going to share it? So, of course, having nutritious meals that nourish the body, which is what world food movement gives, is important. So, I have to mention the taste of the meals. Come on. Right. So, I'll say this. The day when I went to be part of the event, I could just smell the aroma of spices in the air. I say, "Yes, it go taste good." And let me tell you, my taste buds were not disappointed. Thank you for seeing the need and fulfilling the need because faith without works is dead. So, I know that you guys are working to really do what you are called to do. To love, to show up, and to give.

President of Medgar Evers College

Our students at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, New York, have a median family income below $19,000 a year. Consequently, a number of our students are food insecure. Often times, people don't think about college students being hungry. As a matter of fact, a lot of people in this country see college students thinking that they have a life of luxury, which they really don't. This is such an important mission that the World Food Movement has that I hope that it will be embraced by all because as was said more than once tonight, no child, and I'll say no person deserves to have to go hungry.

World Food Movement is a wonderful initiative, inspired by Srila Prabhupada's vision of a hunger-free world, that will benefit communities across the United States. I congratulate the founders on establishing World Food Movement. Their leadership and selfless service have already touched millions of lives in India, and I am confident that this initiative will do the same here in the US. Let us all support this noble cause and build a world where the only hunger left is the hunger to learn, to succeed and to serve.
